EDUA 7300 - Adv App of Media & Tech
Throughout this course, we have explored various topics related to multimedia, including Multimedia Competencies, Media Designs, Multimedia Learning, and Multimedia Authoring Tools. After careful consideration, I decided to work on a multimedia project that would be useful not only for my job but also as an instructional designer.
The title of my project is "How to Conduct an Effective Onboarding: A Comprehensive Guide.” Onboarding is a crucial process that can make or break a new hire's experience in an organization. It is the first impression that a new employee gets of a company. An effective onboarding program should be informative, engaging, and welcoming to ensure that your new hires feel equipped, valued, and comfortable in their new role. Therefore, it is essential to get onboarding right. This guide will provide the necessary steps to create an effective onboarding program that will cover all the essential aspects of an organization, such as company culture, policies, procedures, and expectations. By following this guide, organizations will be able to create an onboarding program that fosters a positive experience for new hires, builds a strong foundation for their future success, and helps an organization achieve its goals.
My project started with a Storyboard Template but turned into a comprehensive guide that organizations can use. I included all of the desired media design components, and the final format met my expectations. The guide can be used by different organizations, and I considered various media design components such as graphics, typography, colors, and layout during the design process. I also followed Mayer's 12 Principles of Multimedia, which involve using a combination of visuals and text to highlight important information and presenting information in both visual and auditory formats. This approach can help learners stay engaged and remember the information presented to them better.
Additionally, I used Animaker, a Multimedia Authoring Tool, to create my project. Animaker is a user-friendly tool that provides pre-built templates, characters, and backgrounds, which make it easy to create visually appealing and engaging multimedia projects with ease. It is compatible with multiple devices, so you can watch my animated video on your smartphone or tablet.
